December 22, 2005 - A group from the city of Crookston, UMC and members of the Crookston Vitality Park Recreation and Natural Resources Committee drove to Morris, Minnesota on Monday to visit and tour their combined facility on the college campus. City Administrator Aaron Parrish said they learned a great deal from their excursion. The Regional community Center is located on the University of Minnesota Morris campus and run by the Morris School District. A joint powers group of the county, school district, city and college was formed to make the project a reality. Parrish said usage comes from the regional community and the college. Funding from the project came from all the entities including some private donations. Many fears they had about the facilities location do not become a reality as all ages from the community make use of the programs offered. Parrish said they gained some good ideas that could be used in future planning for the community center in Crookston. Craig Morgan was on the trip and submitted some pictures of the Morris Center.
